Through California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment Tribal Research Grant Program (TRGP), the State is investing in tribally led climate research and projects that address priorities identified by California Native American tribes and communities. The program is managed by the California Energy Commission (CEC) in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI).
TRGP funding supports tribal research on climate change impacts, adaptation, resilience, stewardship, and Indigenous Knowledges. Projects are designed and led by tribes and tribal organizations, helping expand the body of climate research available to tribal communities while supporting identified research needs and priorities.
Research funded through the TRGP also contributes to the Fifth Climate Change Assessment and helps strengthen our understanding of how climate change is affecting California Native American communities and how tribes are leading climate resilience across the state.
